A regional coastal zone management system

Abstract

This thesis documents research undertaken to investigate the operation of coastal zone management in and around south Devon in the south west of the United Kingdom. The concept of coastal zone management has brought an integrated approach to the coastal zone in many placed around the world and examples of these are given (Chapter Two) to illustrate the mature nature of coastal zone management in these places. These are contrasted with the current UK use of a sectoral rather than a holistic approach.
