Abstract

The aim of the writing retreat was for three previous members of the Centre for Excellence in Professional Placement Learning (Ceppl) to collaborate on three research papers which were initiated in November 2010 before the centre closed.

The original objectives of the writing retreat were: • To discuss the results and draft papers to be written by each of the three participants • To finalise three draft REF standard papers for submission to the journal(s) Higher Education and Studies in Higher Education o Paper 1: Perceptions of the scholarship of teaching and learning – Studies in Higher Education o Paper 2: Facilitators and barriers to the scholarship of teaching and learning – Higher Education o Paper 3: Lessons from a scheme to improve strategic collaboration around work based and placement learning in a higher education institution – Higher Education • To discuss further opportunities for dissemination including conferences

The writing retreat related to a discussion of dissemination opportunities stemming from a research project evaluating schemes funded by the Ceppl. The schemes funded teaching and learning projects, promoting and encouraging the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL) at the University of Plymouth and other Higher Education Institutions nationally. Three funding schemes were evaluated in 2010 and the results are awaiting write up and submission for publishing.
