The use of maps in tourism marketing and management

Abstract

Maps are a common feature of tourist brochures and leaflets. This paper examines the role of the tourist maps, identifies different styles of map produced by the public sector in the UK and, using a case study in Plymouth, assesses the effectiveness of these maps for visitors.
