Abstract

Aspects of the conservation of Dytiscidae are discussed with particular reference to the benefits, potential and realized, associated with the listing of individual species as threatened internationally and nationally. Examples are drawn on a global basis, but inevitably with some bias to the predaceous diving beetles of western Europe endangered by a history of intensification of agriculture, industrialization, and urbanization.
