Abstract
Issues concerning water regulations and management are enumerated. These headline news include a new directive, Directive 2006/118/EC on the protection of groundwater against pollution and deterioration; the 2773rd Environmental Council meeting in Brussels; stakeholder forum on water scarcity and droughts; implementation of the water framework Directive 2000/60/EC; launch of the water information system for Europe; agreement on new floods directive; issuance of green paper on safer ship dismantling; and a summary report on bathing water quality for 2006 bathing season.
