Abstract
The Brazilian biennial festival of expanded cinema, curated by Duo Strangloscope, features Parker's 16mm film, 'Purling', which was made in collaboration with Stuart Moore. in the Deliberadament Irreal (Deliberately Unreal) programme, which opens the event. 21 to 25 May 2025.
‘Purling’ is a 4K experimental digital work that develops Parker’s innovative method of optically entwining the abstract imagery from two hand-made strips of 16mm film – a clear strip of hand-printed rhythmic colour and a black emulsion strip created through a photogram technique. It will be presented as an installation in a five-screen loop at the Museu Histórico de Itajaí.
