Abstract
Floods and landslides annually impact regions worldwide, leading to disruptions, fatalities, and economic losses. These hazards are rising due to climate change and population growth, which also threaten existing defenses. Traditionally, they have been monitored separately using satellite remote sensing and ground-based instruments to measure river flow, slope displacement, and soil moisture. A new 3D visualisation, developed with Dr. Andrew Prior and using the University of Plymouth’s Immersive Vision Theatre, combines these datasets and enhanced models of floods and landslides. This digital tool aims to facilitate communication between scientists and at-risk communities, enhancing preparedness and resilience to these risks.
