Abstract
ABSTRACT: This is a retrospective study on the surgical management of temporomandibular joint ankylosis. The rationale for coronoidectomy in the management of TMJ ankylosis has been described. Ninety-six patients (123 joints) were operated, out of which forty-six patients (63 joints) required coronoidectomy in addition to condylectomy. We discuss the indications and advantages of performing coronoidectomy in the management of temporomandibular joint ankylosis.
