Abstract
Dietary management forms a major part of the treatment for diabetes. Poor compliance with dietary recommendations can worsen glycaemic control and lipid profile and may result in inappropriate weight gain. Allowing the patient control over the choice of dietary options will increase motivation and compliance and lead to better health outcomes.
