Abstract

The North Devon World Surfing Reserve (NDWSR) focus group, held on the 19th June, 2024,brought together members of the Local Stewardship Council and key community representatives to reflect on past achievements, discuss current challenges, and envision future opportunities for the region. The focus group is part of a collaborative research project developed and run by researchers from the University of Plymouth and Falmouth University. Discussions revolved around technological advancements, community engagement, environmental concerns, and the socio-economic impacts of surfing tourism. This interim summary presents a high-level summary of initial findings, emphasising participant perspectives and the implications for future strategies.
