Research output: Contribution to conferenceAbstractpeer-review

Abstract

This study employs a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and Correlation Analysis to examine the evolution of media representations of Tema Port in newspaper articles from 1980 to 2023. The research investigates how global and local economic trends, including economic crises, globalization, and policy shifts, have influenced media coverage and shaped public narratives about the port. Using a qualitative research design, the study analyses articles from diverse newspaper sources, including state-owned and independent publications, divided into distinct economic periods. The research aims to identify thematic patterns related to economic and infrastructure development, impact of economic trends, and government policy influence. This analysis will contribute to understanding how economic events shape media discourse and public perception of strategic infrastructure projects, offering insights into Tema Port's evolving role in Ghana's economic landscape.
