Abstract
Collaborative working is central to UK health and social care reforms. It is seen as the most efficient way of delivering high quality services, preventing fragmented care and improving the quality of the client’s journey as well as being responsive to service user needs. The drive for multi-professional and inter-professional education is aimed at nurturing collaboration by engaging in joint educational initiatives. The challenge, however, is how to encourage this greater collaboration and understanding between health-care professionals. The University of Plymouth has taken this opportunity to offer students of nursing clinical placements within the Youth Enquiry Service, with the aim of providing experience working with children and young people in a supportive, multi-agency environment with professionals from a variety of backgrounds. This paper discusses the benefits of this placement.
