Abstract
Dan Paolantonio & Allister Gall (as Imperfect Cinema) produced and directed this event which was presented in the former Gaumont Palace Cinema (n ow the Millennium Building) on Plymouth's iconic Union Street., bringing cinema back to this famous street (Plymouth's Home of Movies) for the first time since 1981.
The Awakening featured a programme of bespoke films commissioned and curated by Imperfect Cinema specifically for this event. The evening culminated in a one-off (and never-to-be-repeated) live performance by the Imperfect Cinema Orchestra, who re-scored a gothic masterpiece of cinema, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari (1920).
This event was hosted by Nudge Community Builders and was part of Imperfect cinema's 'Home of Movies' community outreach project.
