Abstract
In this article, Sarah Tobin details the development of a national endoscopy education and training programme for nurses, to highlight the evolution of the course and to explain the current context of the programme. A personal perspective on the importance of continuing professional development and the challenges faced by nurses to take control of their own education is also presented.
