Abstract
Remaster for 360 fulldome of 35mm direct animation non-verbal film poem, Flow (2020, 1 minute), created by Kayla Parker and Stuart Moore. A 360 proof of concept output enabled by Start Something Women in Immersive Tech grant funding from Real Immersive to Kayla Parker (2023).
A test screening of Flow 360 was part of the 'Kayaking and Creativity' public engagement activities for the Being Human Festival of UK humanities research, held 12 Nov 2023, in the 15-metre immersive dome, Market Hall, Devonport. The film was presented to an audience of over 70 people, with event booking via Real Ideas; the screening was 'sold out' and half the audience watched the film twice, along with another remastered 35mm direct animation film, Cadence 360, and Flow + Cadence, the 360 proof-of-concept live-action film shot from kayaks on the River Plym.
The public screening was to test audience response to the work in an immersive environment and inform further development of the project and further film-making research in the River Plym.
360 degree film with original sound design, 1 minute. The copy of Flow 360 film deposited in Pearl is a mirrored spherical version: a 1:1 single screen render of the film that is non-navigable, dated 14th April 2024.
Flow 360 is embargoed for 3 years as it is an initial experiment towards creating a new 360 film poem, using the same 35mm direct animation technique, with spoken haiku written by Parker and Moore.
EXHIBITION
River Visions: presentation events for The Bridge Arts and Cultural programme, with introductory talk by Parker and Moore followed by a screening of Flow + Cadence and two film poems, Flow 360 and Cadence 360; Immersive Vision Theatre (IVT), Plymouth (5.50pm and 7.00pm, 14 October 2024)
