Abstract

<jats:p> Exertional heat stroke is a potentially lethal condition that can occur in otherwise healthy individuals participating in endurance exercise. Its recognition in the field and effective, prompt treatment by active cooling is essential if mortality and permanent neurological morbidity is to be avoided. </jats:p>
