Abstract

The Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, in collaboration with the Environmental Physiotherapy Association and the Universities of Plymouth, Brighton, and Nottingham, is proud to submit this symposium. Designed as part of an integrated initiative, the symposium is complemented by a workshop and networking session, creating a seamless pathway from theoretical exploration to practical implementation and professional engagement. These interconnected events will provide a comprehensive and dynamic experience, enabling attendees to examine the conceptual foundations of environmental physiotherapy, explore practical strategies for sustainable practice, and collaborate on integrating sustainability into physiotherapy education and clinical practice.

The session aims to critically engage participants in ecological thinking as a way to enhance physiotherapy education and workforce development. It will reflect upon traditional person-centred care models and introduce sustainable, systems-based approaches that align physiotherapy practice with planetary health principles.
