Abstract

This paper will explore how pivotal decision making is within the role of management, through the exemplification of theories surrounding decision making and the common practice of decision making within different industries. Decision making is prevalent within various instances as the role of management utilises and make decisions to achieve business objectives. Many businesses understand the importance of decision making due to the consideration of resources and assets being used when businesses make these decisions as it can affect the direction of the business and also a business’s overall success. This paper will analyse the business H&M, investigating the industries direction into fast fashion and the harmful effects it creates surrounding this industry. Many reports in relation to this issue provide different types of literature, models and theories that can be applied to a business-like H&M and the ties their production has within fast fashion. In this case, many aspects such as any moral implications regarding the case are also being considered. Decision-making trees will be applied and examined where many changes such as a company’s logistics and businesses reputation. As well as a critical analysis of decision-making trees being a beneficial use in reducing the amount of risk a company may face. This paper will identify various types of literature to assess both the benefits and drawbacks of decision-making trees, as well as how useful the tool decision trees are for a company like H&M to consider.
