Abstract
We present field observations of the evolution of the fields of oxygen and hydrogen sulfide in the shelf zone of the southern coast of the Crimea during a coastal upwelling. The experimental data are compared with the results of mathematical modeling presented in [4], where the formation of a dome with a low concentration of oxygen near the shelf edge is shown as a consequence of the upwelling of deep water enriched in hydrogen sulfide. The decrease in the thickness of the suboxygen layer and the widening of the oxycline near the shelf edge obtained experimentally and theoretically can be considered as the trace of a near-shore upwelling.
