The IMAGO LISBOA Photo Festival is a landmark event in the national and international photography scene. The 6th edition of Imago Lisboa proposes Action for a Green Future as its central theme, which will bring together several artistic narratives around global warming. This climate phenomenon, which results in a gradual increase in the Earth's average temperature over time, is mainly caused by the intensification of the greenhouse effect, a natural process that retains part of the sun's heat in the atmosphere to sustain life on the planet. However, intensive human activities, mainly the burning of fossil fuels (such as coal, oil and natural gas) and the deforestation of large areas, have significantly increased the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, worsening global warming. Through significant exhibitions, which include renowned authors alongside emerging works, we aim to generate a profound reflection that, despite being on the agenda of many events, has not yet resulted in a widespread change in behavior, whether collective or individual. Individual action plays an important role. Changing everyday habits, such as reducing energy consumption, choosing sustainably sourced foods, minimizing waste and promoting more sustainable lifestyles, contribute to the fight against global warming. Climate change is clearly evident in the increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, such as heat waves, droughts, storms and floods; global warming has accelerated the melting of the polar ice caps, contributing to rising sea levels, threatening several coastal populations; climate change is affecting ecosystems, leading to the loss of biodiversity and the displacement of animal species, even threatening their extinction; water scarcity is another imminent danger that affects not only agriculture but also human health. These and many other consequences resulting from global warming will be reflected in the program, which will develop educational activities through guided tours, colloquia, round tables, workshops and screenings that will seek to align the development of greater individual awareness of this serious problem. Combating global warming and mitigating its effects requires the adoption of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote adaptation to climate change and seek sustainable solutions for human activities.
