Overview
The University of Plymouth’s Social Research Unit have been commissioned to undertake an evaluation of Marie Curie's Proactive Identification, Care and transfer (PICT) Team at UHP NHS Trust.
The evaluation will seek to understand if and how Marie Curie, in partnership with UHP, has facilitated a transformation in palliative and end-of-life care and supported patients and people close to patients.
One of the key goals around the Marie Curie and UHP partnership is for people to have more choice around where they receive care and die.
The service will provide a dedicated team and community beds to support people who are approaching the end of their lives in hospital.
The evaluation will review and analyse quantitative and qualitative data, including: patient-level data, KPI results, patient surveys, interviews and reflective journals.

To what extent has the partnership between Marie Curie and University Hospitals Plymouth supported a transformation in palliative and end of life care in the Trust?
All evidence generated through fieldwork and data collection will be used to produce a coherent narrative of the extent to which there has been a transformation and if so, what were the key ingredients for success, and conversely what was been a barrier to progress.
To what extent has the partnership between Marie Curie and University Hospitals Plymouth supported a transformation in palliative and end of life care in the Trust?
