Project Details
Overview
Earth, Water, Fire! will create a contemporary storytelling show for North Devon
audiences, incorporating folk tale, climate data, community debate, music &
film. Using personal and traditional stories, & shaped by local people, it will
explore how we battle our monsters, the impacts of the climate crisis on rural
lives & the nature of heroism, through Earth (farming); Water (flooding); and
Fire (wildfire, activism).
The project is a collaboration between Lisa Schneidau (storyteller), Matt Biggs
(film-maker), Emma Welton (musician), community volunteers, Paula Crutchlow
(dramaturg/director), Beaford Arts, University of Plymouth, North Devon and
Torridge Councils, & Peter Buffery (technician). It will be toured by Beaford Arts
in spring 2023, and produce a film & academic paper.
