Project Details

Overview

The health and care landscape is rapidly evolving, with digital technologies playing an increasingly important role in delivering efficient, high-quality care. However, many regions in the UK, particularly those with unique demographics like Devon, face significant challenges in equipping their health and care workforce with the necessary digital skills, equipment, and confidence to harness these technologies effectively.

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, in collaboration with its partners, and the University of Plymouth, have proposed the establishment of a Digital Skills and Enablement Hub to advance digital innovation, education, and upskilling within the health and care sector.

Together the Trust and the University have secured funds from Devon County Council to run a Digital Champion Skills bootcamp to increase spread and adoption of emerging technology.

The intention of this bootcamp is to elevate health/social care staff from basic digital skills to the application of more advanced technologies and support the uptake of innovation in practice.

Project Aims

The aim of the course is to equip attendees with the knowledge and skills needed to champion digital transformation in their own local workplaces and have the specific skills to realise the potential of technology by proposing, constructing, and navigating digital innovation in practice.
