My recent research focuses on urban sustainability transitions, examining potential interventions that address complex challenges associated with these transitions in cities. I investigate the underlying mechanisms and contextual factors that shape the implementation of sustainability initiatives across urban systems, with particular attention to city logistics and just transitions. Using a systems perspective, my work explores diverse pathways towards urban sustainability, considering both environmental and social dimensions.
I also conduct research in humanitarian logistics and supply chain risk management, examining their roles in enhancing disaster resilience, particularly in the context of climate change mitigation and disaster preparedness.
I have extensive experience in international research projects, collaborating with prominent humanitarian organisations (UNHCR, WFP, Red Cross, etc.) and conducting fieldwork across diverse locations, including Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, and Spain. I also contributed to the DG-ECHO-funded EU project on emergency logistics preparedness.
Before joining the University of Plymouth, I worked as a project researcher at Hanken School of Economics, Helsinki, Finland and as a research fellow at Kühne Logistics University, Hamburg, Germany.
I currently lead and teach the following modules:
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
