Additional information

Research focus:
Even though we are constantly reminded not to judge a book by its cover, we form a first impression every time we meet someone new. These first impressions are formed within a few milliseconds and can influence many of our behaviours, decisions and attitudes. My research is mainly focused on first impressions and aims to explore how we make such judgements from different modalities and sources of information such as the human face and voice, as well as the way they are integrated together to form multimodal impressions. I am also interested in person perception and recognition from both faces and voices. My research is particularly focused on the role of person variability which describes the idea that different images or voice recordings of the same person might look/sound very different from one another and that could affect both person recognition as well as social impressions.
