    Profile summary

    My current role is Head of Department for Business Management within Plymouth Business School and Lecturer in Events and Business Management. I have previously held the role of Programme leader for BSc (Hons) Business Management and BSc (Hons) Tourism Management.
    I have been a lecturer at the University of Plymouth since 2017. As part of my current lecturing role, I teach students from multiple degree paths, and at all stages of their undergraduate programmes within the Department of Business Management. 

    I am Trainer for IOSH Managing Safely, and deliver this Industry recognised course to the Event's Management students annually as part of the Crowd safety and behaviour module.
    I am the Chair for the Plymouth Business School Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. As part of this role I chaired the School's Athena Swan Bronze assessment panel, which we were awarded in 2021.

    Prior to commencing my academic career, I worked in the Hospitality Industry as an assistant hotel manager and was responsible for the everyday running of the hotel, including bookings and enquiries; completing financial reports; stock taking; customer service and event management.

    I also worked within the University’s External Relations team, where my main responsibilities included organising the Vice-Chancellor's Enterprise Awards 2011 and 2012, as well as assisting in the organisation and implementation of the University's 150th anniversary programme. I was involved with all stages of these events from planning through to execution and evaluation. Some of my main duties included project management, designing promotional campaigns, updating and monitoring the webpages, generating sponsorship and budget supervision, developing communication plans for both internal and external stakeholders, enhancing student experience and relationship building.

    Teaching interests

    I currently teach on a range of modules for within the Department of Business Management within Plymouth Business School. 
    These include: - BSc (Hons) Events Management  - BSc (Hons) Tourism Management
    - BSc (Hons) Business Management

    I am lead trainer for the university to deliver the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Managing Safely qualification - an internationally recognised qualification for health and safety, which is delivered to the BSc (hons) Event Management students as part of their curriculum. 
    Additional workshops I deliver outside of the curriculum include:

    • Academic skills workshops including referencing, essay and report writing, and presentation skills

    In addition to my teaching role, I am also a supervisor to a number of final year Honours Project students from Plymouth University.
