Professor Jos Latour is leading the ICARE-LIFE research group. This group is a national and international research collaboration focusing on improving outcomes of patients and families in adult, paediatric and neonatal intensive care and emergency settings. Professor Latour is the developer of the EMPATHIC, EMPATHC-N, EMPATHIC-30, ENMPATIC-F questionnaires measuring parent and family satisfaction in neonatal, paediatric, and adult intensive care settings. These questionnaires have been translated and validated in more than 40 countries. Methodologically, the ICARE-LIFE covers clinical trials, large‑scale surveys, qualitative and mixed‑methods studies and includes more than 15 PhD students and post-doc researchers. My research areas are in Neonatal, Paediatric and Adult Intensive Care; Emergency Medicine; Family-Centred Care; End of Life; Patient and Family Reported Outcomes; Quality of Care. My expertise in research designs are: 1) quantitative research methods such as Randomised Controlled Trials and survey studies; 2) qualitative research methods such as Grounded Theory, Phenomenology and Ethnography; 3) mixed methods research.
