Work as a Journal Reviewer
I have reviewed papers for the BMJ, BMC Public Health, British Journal of General Practice, BMJ Medical Humanities, Tourism Management, Journal of the Association for Consumer Research, International Journal of Semiotics and Visual Rhetoric (IJSVR), Journal of Transport History, Oceans and Coastal Management. And papers for academic conferences, e.g. Society for Academic Primary Care Annual Meeting.
Work as a Funding Reviewer
I have reviewed NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research (HSDR) Programme submissions as a methodological expert (ethnography), and well as Research for Patient Benefit (RfPB). As an expert in healthy ageing-related research, I have also reviewed applications to the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Medical Research Council (MRC).
Work as a Book Series Editor
I am on the editorial board of the Springer book series Numanities – Arts and Humanities in Progress for the last 9 years. And the Open Semiotics Series Scientific Advisory Panel from L' harmattan. I am also on the Cambridge Scholars Editorial Advisory Board for Publications that relate to marketing, specifically texts that concern positional marketing, marketing semiotics, healthcare marketing, and the sociology of marketing.
Work as a Committee Member(National - UK-wide)
I was elected to the Medical Research Council (MRC-NIHR)’s Trials Methodology Research Partnership (TMRP) Health Informatics Working Group in 2020. Specifically, I work on the Strategy, Trail Designs, and Digital Health Interventions sub-groups. I was appointed as the Lay Member of the Royal College of Radiologist’s Clinical Radiology Academic Committee in 2020 for a five years.
