    Profile summary

    Jo came to the University from a 13 year long primary teaching career where she taught every year group from 1 to 6 inclusive and had significant experience in leading change, including as a Department for Education appointed Specialist Leader in Education and a Master Teacher for Computing at School. In these roles, Jo led significant projects across diverse schools in multi-academy trusts, changing the ways that phonics was taught and achieving marked improved performance amongst students and schools in standardised attainment tests.

    While her teaching passion centres on Primary English, through her recent development and co-leading of the new two-year Fast Track BA Primary Education, Jo has shown herself to be an innovator who adapts and evolves her pedagogy for the real world.
