His research outcome investigates contemporary policy-oriented issues associated with exchange rate determination, current account imbalances and dynamic open economy macroeconomics.
His publications have been focused on the nominal and real exchange rate determination, also investigating the extent to which the real effective exchange rate (volatility and misalignment) could affect the magnitude and the persistence of trade imbalances for small open economies, with a purpose to provide recommendations on how small open economies could improve their international competitiveness and operate within a more sustainable open economy macroeconomic environment. He has also investigated the concept of trade imbalances within the framework of the European core-periphery dualism identifying key factors that could explain and remedy trade imbalances between the Northern and Southern Eurozone. A major part of his research also focuses on Dynamic stochastic general equilibrium models (DSGE) with the view to explain business cycle fluctuations for small open economies and shed light on the dynamic effects of both monetary and fiscal policy.
His research output has been published in top journals in the areas of Economic and Finance, including the Journal of International Money & Finance, the Economic Inquiry, the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money and the International Journal of Finance and Economics. He is also the author of a book in the area of DSGE modelling and a co-author of a book focusing on the European Segmentation.
