Welcome to My Profile: Collaboration and Impact in E-Health and AI for Healthcare Innovation
Hossein Ahmadi largely engaged and built relationships with several industrial stakeholders in the region active in the e-health area during my presence in EPIC project including Akumen Ltd (https://akumen.co.uk/), Arts Well UK CIC (https://arts-well.com/), Chromotropic Limited, Ross Raymond-Jones and n-Coders (https://www.n-coders.co.uk/). In the EPIC project, Hossein supported the mentioned SMEs Activities in AI and Machine Learning within the context of UK. He was the main lead to provide 12-hours support to those SMEs. Now, he has joined various projects, i.e., AI and dental service provision rapid evidence assessment, use of machine learning and data analytics techniques to recognize and correct anticholinergic inducing polypharmacy in older people with intellectual disabilities and epilepsy, as well as leveraging AI to understand experience of patients with Multiple Long-Term Conditions. I am also working hard to develop grant proposals in applied health studies and very keen to develop international collaborations between the universities and healthcare organizations from the UK and other countries ie, Iran.
If you are interested in pursuing a collaboration or project in the fields of digital health, applied health studies, or eHealth, including:
Health Data Science: Leveraging advanced techniques in machine learning, deep learning, and big data to accelerate health research and improve healthcare services. This includes enhancing diagnostic accuracy, prediction capabilities, and treatment outcomes across various disease contexts such as cancers, infectious diseases, neurological disorders, eye conditions, and dentistry.
Research and Evaluation on AI Healthcare Applications: Investigating and assessing the applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare to drive innovation and optimize patient care and health management.
Please feel free to contact me via email if you would like to discuss potential collaborations or have any questions.
About
Hossein earned his Ph.D. in Information Systems under a highly competitive Malaysian government scholarship in 2016. Since then, his teaching and research experience span several prestigious universities including Plymouth University, Aston University, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and Iran University of Medical Sciences. Currently, he is a Research Fellow within Centre for Health Technology at University of Plymouth School SNAM. Prior to this role, he was Research Associate at Aston University Operations and Information Management Department from 2020 until 2021. Also, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Tehran University of Medical Sciences Health Information Management Department from 2016 until 2018. He has over 8 years of experience and published over 80 peer-reviewed publications. Hossein has developed a wealth of experience in shaping and leading research in a range of clinical and care areas like Parkinson, eye state, breast cancer, infectious disease, chronic hyperlipidemia, hepatitis disease, mesothelioma disease, respiratory infections disease, cardiovascular diseases and etc. In this regard, he has developed and proposed novel AI and Machine Learning algorithms for accurate, reliable, and speedy disease diagnosis, prediction, and classification. As a health data scientist, Hossein takes the lead in developing research. His research focuses on the digital health and applied health studies, involving use of health data science, machine learning and big data techniques to accelerate health research, improve healthcare services, and diagnostic accuracy studies. Reflecting this expertise is his role in the University of Plymouth Centre for Health Technology. In this, Hossein take on the role of project lead for individual projects as well as providing expert input to other projects in the areas of patient experiences, cancer classification, mental health identification, neurodegenerative disease (e.g., Parkinson's disease), EEG classification, disease segmentation and prediction, and diagnostic test evaluation. The results of his projects disseminated in journals of the uppermost echelon, such as Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering (Elsevier; SCIE), Ageing Research Reviews (Elsevier; SCIE), Telematics and Informatics (Elsevier; SSCI), Journal of Medical Informatics (Elsevier; SCIE), International Journal of Fuzzy Systems (Springer; SCIE), Journal of Cleaner Production (Elsevier; SCIE), Computers & Industrial Engineering (Elsevier; SCIE), Universal Access in the Information Society (Springer; SCIE), Technology in Society (Elsevier; SSCI), Expert Systems with Applications (Elsevier; SCIE), Electronic Commerce Research and Applications (Elsevier; SSCI), Technological Forecasting and Social Change (Elsevier; SSCI), Computers in Human Behavior (Elsevier; SSCI), Optics & Laser Technology (Elsevier; SCIE), Applied Soft Computing (Elsevier; SCIE), Journal of Infection and Public Health (Elsevier; SCIE), Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine (Elsevier; SCIE), Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services (Elsevier; SSCI), MethodX (Elsevier; SCIE) etc. As an active researcher, he has published more than 80 research works to date in interdisciplinary research with respect to artificial intelligence and information systems. His research shows a considerable impact, with high citations recorded based on Google Scholar (Citations: 4846; H-Index: 35) and Scopus indices (Citations: 2536; H-Index: 25).
Hossein has developed strong links with various groups within the University and beyond. He mainly involved with the Data-lab project connected with NHS Kernow Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), first working on a specific sub-project using machine learning to analyze large integrated data sets for NHS Kernow CCG, then continuing to work with the wider EPIC team on data science projects for promoting eHealth in the Cornwall region. He focused on how to promote awareness and develop new products and services in health data science, Internet of things, and other digital devices. I work with a core team of academics from the Schools of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics and the SNAM, on work packages that support health and social care providers as well as SMEs in Cornwall. Hossein has led on journal publications in the related areas. He also helped to generate new ideas to continue the work through collaborative projects such as Generating Older Active Lives Digitally (ESRC funded) project.
