    Gary Hodge is a registered Mental Health Nurse and Research Fellow working at the School of Nursing and Midwifery. He has a particular research interest in Social Care Research (care homes) and Qualitative/person-centred/lived experience (autoethnography/storytelling/art based) research. Although he also has experience in mixed methods projects and meta-synthesis (literature reviews).

    Gary has been involved in a variety of projects, which include person-centred care home projects (multiple case study/ethnography), Palliative and End of Life Care projects (focus group/priority setting) and more recently Dementia projects (public engagement/journey mapping). He also has worked on a series of education (survey/focus group) and sustainability projects (action research).

    Gary is a PhD supervisor, supporting both academic and clinical academic PhD students across a variety of topics within SNAM. He also has an interest in reflexive supervision, working with PhD students to understand and embrace their PhD project positionality.

    Gary is part of the Early Career Researcher editorial team of the Journal of Advanced Nursing. He is also an Honorary Clinical Fellow of South West Clinical School(s), and an active member of the Researchers in Palliative and End-of-Life Support (RIPELS) group, the Realist Approaches in Dementia Evaluation and Research (RAID-ER) group, and Peninsula Dementia Research Group (PDRG).
