Academic Lead for Occupational Therapy Lecturer in Occupational Therapy
I graduated from Cardiff University, where my undergraduate research focused on problem-based learning and its ability to prepare students for clinical practice. Following my studies, I gained experience across various mental health settings. In 2005, I joined the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) in London, where my role centered on supporting occupational therapy students throughout their educational journey. This opportunity allowed me to engage with students across the UK, delivering a wide range of presentations and lectures on topics relevant to the occupational therapy profession.
In 2012, I completed my MSc in Advanced Occupational Therapy, with my research focusing on clinical leadership. Since joining the occupational therapy team at the University of Plymouth, I have also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice.
For six years, I served as the Practice Placement Lead, a role that enabled me to develop and strengthen networks with occupational therapy colleagues throughout the South West and support students during this critical component of their education. In 2020, I led the development of the MOccTh (Hons), England's first integrated master's programme in occupational therapy. In 2023, I was appointed as the Academic Lead for Occupational Therapy.
I am passionate about occupational therapy education and ensuring we equip our students with the skills, knowledge, and attributes they need to thrive and advance the profession.
