    Elizabeth Cobbett is lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of Plymouth, UK. She has two research projects. The first is Growth of African Financial Systems, maps the emerging geography of finance across the continent, with a focus on South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, and Morocco. She is currently working on a monograph with Edward Elgar: The Political Economy of African Financial Centres: The New Realm of Global Finance.‘Geopolitics of Finance in Africa: Birth of Financial Centres and not Monetary Unions’, in The Quest for Economic and Monetary Sovereignty in 21st Century Africa(London: Pluto) is the latest publication coming out of this research agenda. The second research project is New Shapes & Processes: Evolving Infrastructures between Africa and the Indian Ocean. Her latest publication, ‘Djiboutian Sovereignty: Worlding global security networks’ in International Affairscomes out of this research. Elizabeth was 2012 recipient of the ISA Robert and Jesse Cox Graduate Essay Award, a Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada’s CGS Doctoral Scholarship, the Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada: Graduate Student Award of Merit, as well being the winner of the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada essay competition: Canada’s Experience with NAFTA. In 2018 she was visiting fellow at Universidad Autonoma in Madrid and visiting scholar at University of Carleton’s Global and International Studies in Ottawa, Canada in 2019.
