Charlie Lam is the lead author of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) Working Group II on Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability. His cross-cultural perspectives and extensive global connections—shaped by his upbringing in Hong Kong, academic training in Australia, and academic appointments in China and the UK—make him uniquely positioned to lead transnational research. Before
His research examines how climate change and urban design influence human health and well-being. Working across urban climate, public health, built environment, and social science, he specialises in heat–health interactions, climate monitoring, and adaptation strategies including urban greenery, aiming to create more liveable and climate-resilient cities worldwide.
