    Profile summary

    Carl joined University of Plymouth in September 2020 with over twenty years experience of teaching in Higher and Further Education. 

    Building on the foundation of a professional accounting qualification, Carl has embraced key management accounting topics such as strategic performance measures, balanced scorecard, inventory management, lean, TQM to broaden his teaching disciplines to include into my strategic and operations management.

    Carl is currently the Programme Leader for MSc Operations & Supply Chain Management

    Carl has always strived to bring a sense of realism and practitioner insight into teaching activities to enhance learning and to raise students’ employability skills, and this has included developing web-based learning materials and organisational case studies, highlighting practices in operations and strategic management.

    In 2009, Carl was awarded a Teaching Fellowship and in the same year recognised by the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) in its annual awards for learning and teaching. In addition, he received the Vice Chancellor’s Learning & Teaching award in 2014 and 2015 and in 2020, he was nominated at the Students’ Teaching awards.

    At the present time, Carl leads the module STO6005 Business Consultancy, and teaches on STO5001/6001 Project Management, STO6006/7 Strategy and Business Improvement, and STO7008 Operations Management for Competitive Advantage
