Additional information

CLINICAL EXPERIENCEClinical Doctoral Research Fellow [2016-2019] Funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research I undertook a three year Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship. My research is entitled: A randomised controlled feasibility trial to investigate the effects of a functional standing frame programme versus usual physiotherapy in people with severe sub-acute stroke on function, quality of life and neuromuscular impairment. I also conducted a systematic view: The effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions to treat orthostatic hypotension in the elderly and people with a neurological condition. For 14 months of my Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship I worked clinically as a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Stroke and Neurology in Cornwall. This involved working with people with complex needs as a result of neurological conditions in the community. I continue to work in this role on an flexible basis alongside my academic role. This allows me to maintain my competency in non-medical prescribing. This valuable training enables me to provide holistic care to my patients by assessing and managing both their physical and pharmacological needs.
