Research in the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SNAM) contributes directly to improving health and care regionally, nationally and internationally. Our researchers undertake impactful and internationally excellent research into health technology, workforce innovations and policy implementation, and the health of future generations.
In addition, the South West Clinical Schools is based within SNAM. This a successful and dynamic collaboration between SNAM, School of Health Professions and health and care organisations operating in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. The collaboration is perfectly captured by the Developing a research skilled workforce initiative hosted by the Clinical Schools in partnership (and funded by) by NHSE South West.
The research culture in SNAM is inclusive and encouraging of all researchers regardless of experience. For example, we have been awarded NIHR funding for undergraduate and recent nursing graduate internships embedded within a research team, via the INSIGHT Programme. We also contribute to the Faculty’s Research Masters Studentship programmes, while also supervising a range of Doctoral students and subjects within the UK and internationally. We welcome all UK and internationaly inquiries from those interested in pursuing research at Masters or Doctoral level.
