Research Group Lead: Professor Kayleigh Wyles
Psychology and the Natural World is a research group focusing on Environmental Psychology at the University of Plymouth, which explores how people experience, value, and interact with the natural world, with a particular emphasis on marine and coastal environments. Our research spans the benefits that natural, coastal, and aquatic settings can bring to health, wellbeing, and nature connectedness, as well as the psychological and social drivers of human behaviour that shape environmental outcomes. By integrating environmental psychology with wider environmental and social science perspectives, the group's work seeks to generate insights that support both human flourishing and the protection of the environments people depend on and care about.
The group meets fortnightly during term time for talks, discussions, and informal exchanges among members and invited speakers; colleagues interested in joining can contact Professor Kayleigh Wyles.
