Description

Dr James Tarling and his research collaborators from The Pelican Project in Exeter were invited to speak to Anoushka Williams on BBC Radio Devon.
They discussed the power of Open Mic Nights (OMN) as inclusive spaces where grassroots, everyday creativity can happen. Dr Tarling and the Pelican project are currently working on a project to bring the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and open mic night communities together to see what wisdoms can be shared.
The research has implications for SEND policy and the creative economy with the potential to reshape attitudes around how SEND artists are perceived.
