South West Global Trade Summit
The Chartered Institute of Export and International Trade, in Partnership with the University of Plymouth, held a global trade summit on 06 July 2017. VC Judith Prett gave a speech about the University engagement with businesses and the communities towards a collaborative environment to retain the talent the region needs in order to trade internationally.
This event brought together business leaders, policy makers, diplomats and academics to discuss the challenges for UK international Trade Post-Brexit and what they mean for the South West Region. Experts exchanged ideas on opportunities and challenges on a global, national and regional levels.
Dr Lise Hunter spoke about UK Enabling Trade Index and what it means post-Brexit. Drawing on her expertise in International Trade, she explained how the complex organisation of production systems on a global scale can decide on winners and losers; and what are the challenges for the UK and for the South West Region in particular.
